Optometry Services and Products

While the elements of an eye exam may be pretty similar from one practice to another, the manner in which they are conducted, and the information gleaned from the process is what truly separates one doctor and practice from the rest. Dr. Pope uses a variety of tried and true techniques and today’s technology to evaluate your individual visual requirements and to determine the best correction for your day-to-day life. Your options will be discussed and the pros and cons of each presented so you can make the most informed decision and select the best option to meet your needs.

Dr. Pope is an Optometrist, and as such, is not a surgeon and does not perform eye surgery. However, he is trained and experienced in the co-management of most eye surgeries, including LASIK, Cataract, Blepharoplasty, and Glaucoma. He works with many different surgery groups in the Greater Houston Area, including: The Eye Center of Texas, Houston Eye Associates, Retina Consultants of Houston, UTMB, Baylor College of Medicine and many more. If something does require more advanced care, he will ensure that you are referred to most appropriate secondary or tertiary health care professional in the most appropriate field.

Dr. Pope is uniquely skilled in all facets of Contact Lens wear and care. He has been working with contact lenses as a practitioner since the early 1990’s and has been a contact-lens wearer himself since the 80’s. He has seen the evolution of lens wear and care both as a patient and a doctor. This experience affords him the ability to relate to your needs and experiences.

We stock an immense inventory of diagnostic lenses in every lens category; daily wear, extended wear, toric, bifocal, and cosmetics. Nearly every patient will leave the office wearing his or her new prescription!

Covid-19 Update

As we have been monitoring the COVID-19 developments and following recommendations from the CDC, I have made the decision to limit patient encounters starting March 25th. We will be contacting you soon if you have a scheduled appointment within the next two weeks. However, I will continue to be available for calls, orders, and true emergencies.

* IF you have red, irritated eyes (pink eye) or conjunctivitis, please contact me via phone, text, or email and I will discuss your findings and decide what course of action we should take.
* IF you have sudden changes in your vision, flashes of light, pain in your eyes, PLEASE CALL ME! Do not go to the Emergency Room unless you cannot reach me. They are generally not equipped to handle eye problems like I am.
* IF you have broken or lost your glasses or need more contacts, please contact me.
* IF you cannot reach the office or feel leaving a message is not sufficient, my cell number is 281-455-1623. You can email me directly at drpope@parkwoodvision.com.
* IF you have glasses or contacts here that need to be picked up and are unable to do so by 5pm Tuesday, please let us know so we can make arrangements with you individually.

Please understand, I am still here to serve you if needed, however, as we all do our part to limit the spread of this virus, this is the right course of action. Appointments for after April 6 will be addressed in the coming weeks as we learn more about the progression, or hopefully, control of this viral spread.

Thank you all for your cooperation, and understanding. With all of our efforts, we will be OK, and life will resume as we know it!

Best regards,

Dr. Pope and The Parkwood Vision Team!
